| Fraser Research Facilities
The 4000 sq ft institute is located on Nassau Street within walking distance of the Engineering and Computer Science departments of Princeton University. Fraser Research has the necessary networking research equipment, computers and instruments, to undertake research in Home Networking and Access Networks.
The Institute houses a stimulating array of experimental devices, including many connected with the early evolution of Internet music and video. There are prototype audio and video systems, and experiments with the control of these media (and other things) in a home. There is an experimental fiber access network with prototypes of small low-power broadband switches that might one day be mounted on telephone poles. The ‘Train Set’, shown in the figure below, represents a fiber access network for a village and has been used to experiment with protocols for network management, service provisioning, and service restoration. Also, there is an experiment to show what it is like to use a browser that delivers very high quality images in a human response time.
