Fraser Research takes a holistic view of the next generation Internet. This leads to an interest in many different aspects of network communications including the architecture, algorithms, and system designs required for everyone in the US to have True Broadband access to the Internet. Two well-developed areas of research are as follows:

Prototype Access Network

A prototype network has been developed to explore the technology and architecture necessary to deliver Broadband services to the consumer. It is also used to conduct research in the areas of network performance, fast service restoration, and a fast browser that can generate pages faster than human response time.

A Packet Switch to Serve One Million Households

With the proposed architecture, the traffic aggregates in such a way that the switches central to the network must be capable of handling upwards of 100 Tb/sec. A mechanism has recently been proposed for building large CLOS switches that solves the previously intractable difficulties.
