Research Interests

Fraser Research takes a holistic view of the next generation Internet. This leads to an interest in many different aspects of network communications including the architecture, algorithms, and system designs required for everyone in the US to have True Broadband access to the Internet. Two well-developed areas of research are as follows:

Prototype Access Network

A prototype network has been developed to explore the technology and architecture necessary to deliver Broadband services to the consumer. It has beenused to conduct research in the areas of network performance, fast service restoration, and a fast browser that can generate pages faster than human response time.

A Packet Switch to Serve One Million Households

Within the proposed regional architecture, traffic aggregates in such a way that regional switching centers must be capable of handling upwards of 100 Tb/sec. A mechanism has been proposed for building large CLOS switches that addresses the previously intractable difficulties.
